Mogadishu, Somalia
A large-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) system was installed as part of the project in order to supply the ministry’s operations with a dependable and renewable source of electricity. The system was made up of many thousand high-efficiency solar panels that were positioned around the perimeter of the site on a ground-mounted structure.
In order to ensure maximum energy output throughout the day, the solar panels were positioned and orientated with care to maximize their exposure to the plentiful sunlight in the area. One of the biggest solar projects in the nation, the solar PV system has a total installed capacity of one megawatt-peak (MWp).
This solar power project not only improved energy security and lessened the ministry’s carbon footprint through its operations, but it also demonstrated Somalia’s dedication to adopting sustainable energy solutions and encouraging the use of renewable energy technologies domestically.
