500 kW Solar Project Installation in Athi River, Machakos County, Kenya:
In order to satisfy its increasing energy demands, Athi River, an industrial center in Machakos County, has adopted renewable energy alternatives. A substantial 500 kW solar installation was successfully finished in this location in 2023, making a substantial contribution to the region’s sustainability initiatives.

About 1,250 high-efficiency solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, each with a capacity of about 400 watts, were installed as part of the project. These panels were placed thoughtfully and strategically on a rooftop structure in order to improve energy output all year round and maximize solar irradiation capture.

To handle the substantial amount of direct current (DC) electricity generated by the solar panels, the project incorporated a sophisticated central inverter system. This system consisted of multiple high-capacity inverters, collectively rated at 500 kW, which efficiently converted the DC electricity into alternating current (AC) suitable for grid-connection and on-site use.
The robust mounting structure supporting the vast array of solar panels was engineered to withstand the environmental conditions of Athi River, including the region’s occasional heavy rainfall, moderate winds, and high temperatures. This durable framework ensured the long-term reliability and performance of the solar installation.
In addition to the solar panels and inverters, the project included a comprehensive electrical infrastructure, such as combiner boxes, high-voltage cables, switchgear, and a secure grid interconnection point. These components were meticulously installed to ensure the safe and efficient transmission of the generated electricity to the local electricity grid, in full compliance with the relevant regulations and requirements.
